Decompression Therapy
- What is the Buzz?
Decompression
is the removal of compression from your spine,
especially your intervertebral discs (herniated, torn,
or bulged discs).
Where does the compression come from? GRAVITY.
The difference between a healthy spine and an
injured spine is the ability to successfully handle
gravity. An injured or unhealthy spine can’t handle the
constant pull of gravity as well as a healthy one.
Decompression is the result of traction (stretching)
your backbone - in a very particular way. It can really be
thought of as reversing gravity. To really get the best
results in addition to back pain relief, it must be combined with proper warm up of the
other soft tissues of the spine and in order to make the
changes last it MUST be combined with a muscle
strengthening and re-training program.
Warm up should address the muscles of the spine that are
splinted and guarding. This means simple yet focused
movement of each injured area of the spine. This can be
done most effectively with a Pettibon Wobble Chair™ and
Cervical Traction Unit™.
