Decompression Therapy - [continued]

Decompression is the act of removing compression from your spine. Where does the compression come from? GRAVITY! Using the only table known to actually correct a compressed (read that bulged, herniated, torn, dehydrated) disc, we can reverse gravity on your spine for short periods of time.

When this is combined with other rehab protocols (and ONLY when combined) can it create lasting changes to your spine, joints, and discs.

The Pettibon Wobble Chair™ and Cervical Traction Unit™ are tools to create a repetitive pumping action (called loading/unloading) that forces nutrients into the discs and joints while eliminating waste products.

For as long as the muscles are splinting a Pettibon Tendon Ligament Muscle Stimulator™ (PTLMS) is used. It is a very powerful instrument for relaxing muscles and accelerating the corrective process. It moves vertically not horizontally across the skin. This causes it to be far more effective at reducing splinting.

Once the spine is properly prepped, an adjustment may be performed if needed. Then the backbone may be tractioned (decompression) without resistance from the soft tissue. During the actual therapy each patient’s tolerance is closely monitored and the patient is always able to reduce or stop the session. Many patients actually fall asleep due to the relaxed feeling and back pain relief.
